As wildfires grow more intense and frequent, fire has become an unavoidable force in our changing climate. Unlike traditional wildfire documentaries, this film doesn’t just inform—it immerses. Instead of focusing solely on destruction, it highlights what comes next: the land’s renewal, the return of life, and the knowledge we must reclaim to adapt. Stunning cinematography captures the rhythms of fire—its devastation, its aftermath, and its role in nature’s cycle. Personal accounts from firefighters, homeowners, and Indigenous firekeepers reveal the failure of modern fire suppression, and how controlled burns, fire-resistant plants, and fire-adapted homesteads can help reshape our relationship with fire. Directors Nova Ami and Velcrow Ripper (Metamorphosis, DocLands 2018) make it clear that as the planet heats up, we must change how we live with fire—or be consumed by it. Will screen on International Firefighters Day.
